Principal's Message
I have been at Canon-McMillan for approximately 25 years and at the middle school (CMMS) for 24 of those years. I was drawn to the District because I landed a job as a substitute teacher at the high school. I have stayed with Canon-McMillan because I believe in its mission and value the opportunity to contribute to a top-tier school District.
My vision is to continue implementing best practices in middle-level education and research-based learning strategies, particularly as our enrollment increases. At CMMS, we work hard to utilize our teaming approach to create smaller schools-within-a-school, allowing our teachers to get to know our students better, as well as for the students to get to know their teachers.
The culture at CMMS can be best characterized by faculty and staff who genuinely want to work with middle-level students and are committed to being here. We want to work with this age group and take pride in managing the transition from elementary to high school.
There are several aspects of being a principal at Canon-McMillan that I enjoy. One is being in a position to be a daily helper, which includes assisting students, staff and occasionally families. I enjoy working with our administrative team, which provides for everyone. Canon-McMillan does an excellent job by providing a well-rounded education and preparing students for their future endeavors.
